Relocate Mate uses generative AI in several parts of the product. This page explains, in plain language, what the AI does, what it doesn't do, where your data goes, and how you can opt out. It supplements - and is read alongside - our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Relocate Mate is a research and preparation tool

Relocate Mate is an AI-powered research and self-organisation toolkit. It helps you research Australian visa pathways, organise your own preparation tasks, generate generic document templates, and plan your relocation. We are not a registered migration agent, we are not a legal practitioner, and we do not provide immigration assistance as defined in section 276 of the Migration Act 1958 (Cth) - including via AI.

For advice on your specific situation, consult a MARA-registered migration agent or an Australian legal practitioner.

Which AI providers we use

We send some of your inputs (e.g. messages you type into the AI assistant, details you provide for an indicative match) to third-party generative AI providers so they can produce a response. Today, we use:

• Anthropic - their Claude family of models, used for visa research conversations, summaries, and template generation.
• OpenAI - their GPT family of models, used for similar tasks where Anthropic is unavailable or for specific features.

Both providers process your inputs under enterprise terms that prohibit training their models on customer data. We may add or change providers as the tooling evolves; this page will be updated to reflect any change.

What the AI does

• Answers general questions about Australian visa subclasses, points tests, and public policy, drawing on official sources and public community discussion.
• Surfaces visa pathways that match the criteria you describe (e.g. occupation, age, English level) - as general information, not as advice on your individual case.
• Generates first-draft templates for common application support documents (cover letters, statements of purpose). Templates are starting points, with placeholders, intended to be reviewed by you - and, for visa documents, by your migration agent - before use.
• Drafts rental application documents: a covering letter for a specific property, a reference letter written from a landlord's, employer's or personal referee's perspective for that person to check, edit and sign, and a one-page pet resume. These are drafts about your own circumstances, built only from answers you give us. The model is instructed never to invent an income figure, employer, visa status or rental history, never to suggest offering above the advertised rent, and never to volunteer personal attributes an agent may not lawfully consider.
• Reviews your own cover letter against a fixed checklist, if you ask it to: whether the letter explains how the rent gets paid, whether it is written for that specific property, whether it names evidence an agent could check. The countable parts - your ID points, whether you have a reference letter, how long the letter is - are worked out in code, not by the model, and nothing in the review scores you as a tenant.
• Remembers a few things you typed, if you have AI memory switched on: who is in your household, whether you have pets, when you can move in, and a broad income range - never the exact figure - so the assistant stops asking you for them. These come from your answers, never from anything the model wrote, and each one replaces the last rather than piling up. Turning AI memory off stops it, and you can ask us to delete what is stored.
• Reads a rental listing you paste in and pulls out the address, rent, inspection time and agency so you do not retype them. We never fetch listings ourselves - the text only reaches us because you pasted it - and the extracted fields are shown to you to confirm before anything is saved.
• Summarises immigration news from official and reputable sources. AI summaries are clearly labelled.

What the AI does not do

• Does not advise on your individual visa application or eligibility decision.
• Does not prepare ready-to-submit application documents on your behalf.
• Does not lodge applications with the Department of Home Affairs.
• Does not represent you in any dealings with the Department.
• Does not produce a formal eligibility assessment. Self-checks and indicative matches are general information.
• Does not give tenancy or legal advice. Rental rules are set by each state and territory and change. Where we show a bond cap, a condition-report deadline or a rent-to-income figure, we name the source and point you at your state tenancy authority.
• Does not decide whether you can afford a property. The rent-to-income figure is arithmetic on numbers you enter, shown against a 30% guideline that comes from housing-stress research rather than tenancy law. Agencies apply it inconsistently and some not at all, so it is not a verdict.
• Does not apply for rentals on your behalf, submit anything to a letting agent, or contact your referees.

What we collect, and what we don't

Relocate Mate is built around data minimisation. We collect only the minimum information needed to personalise your research experience.

What we don't ask for to use the core product:

• Passport numbers
• Date of birth
• Document scans, identity records, or biometric data
• Home or visa application addresses

Accuracy and limitations

AI outputs can be inaccurate, out of date, or incomplete. Australian immigration policy and processing data change frequently; models may not reflect the most recent rules. Do not rely on AI outputs as advice on your specific situation. Always verify critical information against official sources, including:

• immi.homeaffairs.gov.au - the Department of Home Affairs visa portal.
• portal.mara.gov.au - the MARA register of registered migration agents.

Your options and consent

• Anonymous browsing. Where supported, you can use parts of the product (e.g. browsing visa subclass information, public news summaries) without entering personal details.
• Explicit consent. Before personal details you provide are sent to an AI provider, we surface a clear notice describing where the data will be sent and the purpose.
• Withdraw consent. You can stop using the AI features at any time. To delete your data, see the deletion request flow in our Privacy Policy.

Concerns and complaints

If you have concerns about how Relocate Mate uses AI, or about the accuracy of an AI output, contact us at hello@visa-agent.ai.

If you are working with a registered migration agent who is using AI in the course of giving you immigration assistance, and you have concerns about that use, you can lodge a complaint with the Office of the Migration Agents Registration Authority (OMARA) via mara.gov.au/complaints.

Changes to this disclosure

We will update this page when we change AI providers, add new AI features, or otherwise materially change how AI is used in the product. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
